Supports the Florida Patriot Guard and Rolling Thunder in Honoring U.S.
Army PFC Branden C. Cummings, Titusville, Florida |

Tuesday morning, February 27th a thick blanket of fog hugged the ground
in central Florida. The sun rose to a grey sky. The mild temperature
was comfortable for the bikers as they converged on Titusville from
their homes throughout the state of Florida. They rose long before the
sun and pulled on their leathers for the trek to the east coast to
honor PFC Branden C. Cummings, a son of our state who paid the ultimate
sacrifice on Valentine's Day, 2007. |

Many riders rode hundreds of miles. By nine in the morning more
than a hundred had already parked their bikes and began unfurling their
flags. A lot of clubs and groups were present. There were members of
Rolling Thunder, Nam Knights, Latin American Motorcycle Association and
the Proud Veterans M/C. Saint and Daddo represented the Defenders M/C.
The riders from the Florida Patriot Guard and the National Patriot
Guard Riders organization were also present. By far the largest group
in attendance today was the American Legion Riders. I saw members from
Posts in Jacksonville, Onecco, Pinellas Park, Sebring, Titusville and
Cocoa. The Palm Beach HOG Chapter had thirteen members also. Great job! |

John Minch, State Captain for the National Patriot Guard Riders gave an
extensive briefing. There were many first time participants and John
covered all scenarios. A prayer for PFC Cummings and the riders was
given and the riders from all their different organizations gathered
together to form a flag line to honor PFC Cummings and his family. As
the morning wore on the temperature rose and leather came off. By noon
it was warm, muggy and threatening rain.

Soon we were saddled up for the short ride to the cemetery. John Minch,
of the national group, had reconned the area earlier and guided us to
where we could park our motorcycles as we laid PFC Cummings to his
final rest. The honor guard rendered a 21 gun salute and taps were
played. By the end of the graveside farewell there was not a dry eye in
the group. Each of us prayed for the Cummings family and thanked
Branden for his sacrifice and the service he gave his country. |

Today we honored a young hero. The debt we owe him can never be repaid
and we stand in awe at his courage and sacrifice. Thank you Branden C.
Cummings, now you may stand down your job here is done. God bless you
and your family. |
